How the scores are spread

Each score falls in one of five bands, and each band is a range: a contractor is counted in one band only. The count in each band is out of the 14,851 contractors with a score.

By city

These are the 27 cities with at least 150 listings. A city here is the city written on the listing, so former municipalities such as North York, Etobicoke and Scarborough appear under their own names rather than under Toronto. “York” is shown exactly as written on the listings; which place it refers to has not been confirmed.

Questions

What is the typical ProScore trust score for an Ontario contractor?

The median is 66 out of 100 across 14,851 rated contractors, as of October 29, 2026. The middle half of scores (25th to 75th percentile) runs from 55 to 75, and the average is 64.6.

Which trade has the highest median score?

Landscapers and pest control, at a median of 71. The lowest median is roofers, at 59. Every trade's figures are in the table on this page.

Why do some contractors have no score?

A contractor is scored only when there is enough evidence to judge. 14,851 of the 16,370 listed contractors had enough. The rest are shown as not yet rated, which is not a low score.

Is a ProScore trust score a government rating?

No. It is ProScore’s own assessment, built from public reviews, business verification and the regulators’ registers where a trade has one. It is not a licence and not a finding by any regulator.

About this data

The population is every contractor ProScore lists publicly: 16,370 home-service businesses in Ontario across 11 trades, counted on October 29, 2026. Listings that are retired, no longer operating or still being checked are not included. No figure on this page names or identifies a business. The database changes daily, so a later count will differ slightly; cite the date.

When each input was collected: Google data for 15,596 of the 16,370 listings (13,069 of them with a Google rating) comes from a one-time import made between February 10, 2026 and March 6, 2026 and has not been refreshed since; 723 listings were refreshed from Google between July 4, 2026 and October 29, 2026. Licence statuses come from the regulators' registers; the latest pulls were October 4, 2026 (ESA), October 13, 2026 (TSSA) and October 2, 2026 (HCRA), and some licences were last read earlier. WSIB matches use WSIB's 2025 public business list.

Trust scores are ProScore's own assessment (the ProScore Trust Index), not a regulator's finding. A listing without enough evidence to score is shown as not yet rated, which is not a low score.

This is a data update, not a new edition of the annual report, The ProScore Ontario Contractor Trust Index 2026 (August 12, 2026). That report used the data and the scoring rules of its own date, so its figures are not directly comparable with these.
