“Hello son, we have an emergency. They turned off the gas and said they can’t turn it back on until they repair the furnace or we get a new one.” That nightmare scenario unfolded for my parents on Thursday afternoon when during a scheduled check up a technician said the heating exchanger was broken - for the second time (longer story) - and they should get a new furnace asap. They didn’t offer any space heaters for the time my parents would spend without heat which would be at the most a few day
