In early 2008, we experienced basement flooding due to silt and ground water coming up through our basement floor drain during heavy rains and spring melts. In 2013 a basement sump pump was installed, connected to the outside weeping tiles to contain the silt and water so we could reach down into the pit to remove silt, necessitating continuous monitoring during heavy rain and spring melts.
