Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the best general contractor in Sault Ste. Marie?
Hicks Construction (Sault) Ltd has the highest ProScore (88/100) among 23 general contractors in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Rankings are based on ProScore, which evaluates ratings, government licensing, including HCRA new-home builder registration where it applies, WSIB coverage, and AI-analyzed customer sentiment.
How do I find a trustworthy general contractor in Sault Ste. Marie?
Look for general contractors with verified active WSIB coverage, and consistent ratings across multiple platforms. ProScore aggregates these signals into a single score from 0-100. In Sault Ste. Are general contractors in Sault Ste. Marie licensed?
Ontario has no provincial licence for renovation contractors. The HCRA licenses builders of new homes, and a renovation of an existing home typically does not call for an HCRA licence. If you are building a new home, the builder does need one; check it in the HCRA’s Ontario Builder Directory. Some cities license renovation businesses, so check with yours. The regulated work inside the job needs its own licences: an ESA-licensed electrical contractor for wiring, a TSSA-registered contractor for gas, and a certified plumber for plumbing. Ask who does each part and check their numbers. Of the top 23 general contractors in Sault Ste. Marie by ProScore, 6 are registered with WSIB according to ProScore’s records.
